Spring and Summer University Prague

FSV UK is organisingSpring University Prague and Summer University Prague each April and September since 2009. The programme offers a wide range of interdisciplinary courses in the social sciences and humanities. It is intended for students who are enrolled in a college or university or have recently graduated. The Spring and Summer University is open approximately to 30 students from all over the world and its objective is to provide them with a broad understanding of the most significant recent and current political, economic and social issues in Europe.



Organised by FSV UK in Cooperation with Other Institutions

On the basis of bilateral agreements, FSV UK cooperates with a number of American universities and institutions in organising international summer schools in Prague. The schools are held in Hollar and Opletalova buildings usually during the month of July. Currently the following summer programmes are taking place at FSV UK:  


The Summer Seminar on Nationalism, Religion and Violence in Europe

The Summer Seminar on Nationalism, Religion and Violence in Europe is organized by Charles University in Prague and International Hellenic University in Thessaloniki, supported by the London School of Economics and Political Science and Peace Research Institue Oslo. A key goal of the Summer Seminar, taking place at the Faculty of Social Science for two weeks every even year is to contribute in a substantial way to the study of violence and to catalyze the growth of the study of violence as a field.

American Institute on Political and Economic Systems (AIPES)

The American Institute on Political and Economic Systems is organised by FSV UK in cooperation with Georgetown University and The Fund for American Studies since 1993. AIPES is a summer academic programme designed to explore the political, economic and cultural issues of the world as it grows under democratic principles. The programme is open to approximately 100 students from more than 25 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the United States. It takes place in July for approximately 3 weeks. Each year, some places are available to students of FSV UK.

The Global Leadership Program (GLP)

The Global Leadership Program is organised by FSV UK in cooperation with Leadership exCHANGE since 2000. It is a comprehensive four-week programme that includes university courses, cultural activities, and community service. The programme is open to university students from around the world, master´s degree students and recent graduates may also apply. Each year, some places are available to students of FSV UK. Opportunities to attend the Rome or Panama programmes are also available.

The Prague Summer Seminars

The Prague Summer Seminars is organised by FSV UK in cooperation with University of New Orleans since 2005. It is a four-week programme offering an array of courses from the arts to social sciences and humanities. The participants of the Prague Summer Seminars come from all over the United States and other countries.

The Missouri School of Journalism

The Missouri School of Journalism is organised by FSV UK in cooperation with The University of Missouri and The Missouri School of Journalism since 2005. The four-week programme is intended for a group of approximately 17 journalist students from The Missouri School of Journalism and FSV UK. Together they work on developing an integrated strategic communication campaign.
