Largest political science conference in Europe

From 7th to 10th September 2016, Charles University organizes the largest political conference in Prague: The ECPR's General Conference. The University is the second scientific and educational institutions in Eastern Europe hosting this important event.

ECPR is bringing some 2 000 political scientists together every autumn. The academic programme takes the traditional format of Sections and Panels, with over 60 Sections normally being organised, each focussing on a particular sub-field of the discipline. Each Section then contains between three and eight Panels, each addressing a specific question within the overall topic.

The ECPR General Conference attracts a truly international audience crossing all sub-disciplines of political science and indeed all career stages; presenting a paper therefore provides the opportunity to benefit from invaluable discussion and debate. Alternatively, participants can simply observe and still take advantage of the full conference experience. The key to a successful conference is teaming a challenging academic content with a stimulating plenary timetable, which also includes social functions that facilitate effective networking. The General Conference does just this through round tables, a plenary lecture and an interesting social programme.

The main speaker at the conference will be Professor Rogers Brubaker from the University of California, Los Angeles, a leading expert on nationalism, citizenship issues and migration.

The conference is held under the auspices of the Rector of Charles University, Professor Tomáš Zima and the Mayor of Prague, Ms Adriana Krnáčová. The organization of the event is provided by the team from the Institute of Political Studies, FSV UK .

Please see more info at the ECPR website or ask Mr. Aleš Karmazin at or +420 722 669 750.
